NJF’s award-winning lodging campaign, Hotel Week NYC, is back for its sixth year, offering something not generally available in The City That Never Sleeps: fabulous hotel rooms at affordable rates…for when you finally do decide to call it a night. Through the promotion, which runs from January 6-15, 2017, the city’s top hotels that often cost upwards of $500 per night are available at rates of just $100 and $200. 

Hotel Week NYC was conceived by NJF partner Nancy Friedman in 2010, a solution to the perennial problem of low occupancy during the post-holiday season. Since then more than 30 hotels have participated in the program, which has sold more than 2,000 room nights and earned nearly 1 billion media impressions. In 2012 the agency even earned a Silver Adrian Award from the Hotel Sales & Marketing Alliance International for outstanding work in hospitality marketing. 

Though New York City enjoys record-breaking tourism numbers, higher than average occupancy rates, and a healthy ADR, the post-holiday blues are all too real for the city’s hotel revenue managers, who are forced to yield rates lower and lower to steal market share. Increased rooming inventory and Airbnb are adding to the competition, making Hotel Week NYC perhaps more relevant than ever. In some cases participants have generated as much as $100,000 in incremental revenue from the promotion, and have earned hundreds of thousands of dollars in added publicity value.
